  2009 Discraft Ace Race

Sept 12, 2009

DISCRAFT ACE RACE 2009

The Race Is On, yet again!

Each autumn, disc golfers from around the world gather at their local courses for one purpose: to throw aces! No putting, no approaching... just runnin' at the chains.

To add to the challenge and excitement, players all throw the same model disc: a brand new, never-seen-before Discraft prototype disc that is introduced each year especially for the One Disc Ace Race. All players get one of these discs to throw, and one to collect. You'll be among the first players to ever throw this new disc design.  The player with the most aces after 36 holes is declared the winner. In case of ties, the number of metal hits is used as a tie breaker. If a tie persists, a closest to the pin contest is then used to determine the event winner.

Format:  Two rounds of 18 holes, one throw per hole per player.

When:  September 12th, 2009  Opens at 10AM and goes all day long.  Please come anytime during the day to play your rounds.  The event will end at about 6PM.  Your two rounds of the Ace Race will take about 1 hour, so you don’t have to stay all day.  However, we will have many other free side games to play.  So, if you want to stay, there is a lot to do.

2008 Ace Race2008 Ace Race2008 Ace Race2008 Ace Race2008 Ace Race

The 2008 Ace Race was HUGE!!

A big thanks goes out to all the participants of the Dalaiwood Ace Race.  This year we actually had 164 players participate in our one day event.  WOW!  With that we were once again the largest Ace Race in the entire world.  That's right folks, thanks to you our little event in the far reaches of the Northwest reigned supreme over every city, state and country hosting Ace Race events.  I know that everyone had a great time and we were very excited to have everyone come out and make the event such a success.

At this point the disc that was used for the event has received PDGA approval (yep, you can throw them in PDGA events) and has been named The Nebula.  There are no current plans to release the disc in the Discraft line so those of you that did come are now owners of very limited discs.

Congrats to Jason Coke for winning the DISCRAFT Ace Race this year where he was very successful throwing a brand new DISCRAFT disc.  It has been a looooong time since Jason, a very talented golfer, has won an event.  Maybe throwing the DISCRAFT plastic was the key to him getting two aces and two metal hits in only 36 holes.  I am sure at this point that Jason and DISCRAFT will have a long and happy future together.

But 2009 will bring a new event and probably a new winner as we haven't had a repeat winner yet!  So keep your plans open and we will post the date as soon as we get finalized on all of our plans for the year.  Make sure you are ready and tell all of your friends because this year the goal will be to crush the 200 player mark.  That's right.  We know that with the great fun and incredible deal that the event is, there is no reason we can't hit this.  With the sport growing like crazy and all of the other events out to take us down we just have to get bigger and better.

See you soon and keep watching for updates!
